Damn long time.
Well in any case you haven't heard, I'm in Afghanistan right now. I'm stationed in Kandahar. Right now I'm in Kabul, the capital, because I had a mission of escorting troops back here from Kandahar. These guys are going home and have been in Afghanistan for about 13 months - yes, over a year. I can be here for as along as 18 months, but will probably not exceed 15. The Kandahar base is nice. There is a Pizza Hut, Burger King, Subway, Green Bean Coffee, nice gym, huge movie/game room with PS2 and XBox consoles, many gift shopps, and walmart like store (we call it the PX - post exchange), and a walk-in shooting range. What sucks though, it the slow internet connection in the computer rooms and the phone room is constantly full because the base is so big; these are both more important than anything else to me. Kandahar is also extreamly hot.
You see, Kabul gets to like 100 degrees of dry heat, and thats near body tempature; thus, its easy to get used to. But Kandahar gets hotter than 115. That sucks. Its like stepping into an air jacuzzi, but hotter. Its also dustier. So if wind blows in your face in Kandahar, all you getting is hot air to make you hotter. Yeah....not cool.
Kandahar is in the southwest, so its by Pakistan and Iran - two bad places. A lot of insurgents come by Kandahar because of its location.
The other day, my base had a rocket attack. Three rockets, two injuries. There was also a sniper attack to a convoy, but no one got hurt. I'm sure many other things happened that I don't know about.
Thats all for now. I gotta go because there is a time limit on the computers so other people can use them.
